HIPPIE SUBCULTURE


 What is a hippie?
·          The youth subculture of hippies was established in the 1960s.• Appearance: Long hair, wearing beads, baggy and colourful clothes• They favour universal love and peace• They are associated with taking soft and hallucinogenic drugs.

·         They’re values are based around peace, love and respect for the environment

·         They support the ‘free look’ which focused on not what others thought of their self-expression through their clothes, but believing in equality for all and protesting against social evils.

Music -
Hippie music Hippies are very music orientated. The most famous groups that stereotypically are aimed at this subculture were ‘The Beatles’ ‘The Sex Pistols’ ‘The Rolling Stones’ and also the very famous singer ‘Bob Dylan.’ They all have a similar style of ‘chill’ which was very popular with the hippies. They typically listen to psychedelic music, which then progressed in the 1970’s to punk rock and roll.
